Cherry Pop....

I got this bright cherry red skirt from J Crew this past weekend.  I think the options for this skirt are limitless but today I decided to go with one of my favorite color combos, red, blue, white and a dash of leopard. Done and done. To all my readers on the East Coast I hope you are all safe after the storm.

Style Tip:  Red, White, and Blue, always makes me think that I am dressing for the 4th of July.  By adding leopard whether it be a scarf, heels, or handbag it automatically makes the outfit a little less themed and more trendy.

About Shoes...

I am so sad that it's starting to get dark earlier which makes it very difficult to take outfit pictures. I am going to have to come up with some out of the box ways to get my outfit posts in during these winter months.  But onto today's post, its all about shoes and all are available at Zara.  They offer some really great options for for fall below are a couple that I love, mostly because they remind me of less expensive versions of designer shoes that I can't afford.  I may even try to add a pair to my wardrobe at some point this season.

Pinning.....

Soooo, I finally gave in and decided to start my own pinterest account.  I didn't start one months ago for fear that I would have something else to be addicted to but honestly it has proven to be a useful tool.  I wanted to share some of my favorite pins at the moment and if you are interested follow me on Pinterest, here.

Blue...

I have been enjoying the perfectly luke warm weekends we have been having in Texas.  Its been a bit too warm to wear all my winter boots however because I'm inpatient I decided to throw these on with one of my favorite pairs of cut off shorts.  These boots are pretty much a statement on their own so a white tee and my favorite navy fleece were the perfect compliments.

Style Tip:  It doesn't have to be 30 below for you to wear your favorite winter pieces.  Boots are one of those items that are easy to wear during those transitioning to winter days.  Pairing them with your favorite shorts or cute little dress is a great way to start to incorporate them into your fall wardrobe.

Unpublished.....

I had a completely different outfit in mind for today's post but the sun is starting to set earlier and the result of the pictures was no bueno.  So I looked on my trusty memory card and found these pictures from my trip to Chicago last month that I never posted.  I found this dress at Urban Outfitters after spotting it on Instagram.  Its such a great easy maxi that you can just throw on and wear to just about any summer event.  Its now tucked away but I'm sure will return for many a bbq and night out when summer returns.

Dress My Nest: Hello CHANEL!!

Apparently I'm on a roll with revisiting my home decor.  I guess its mostly because its not really sale season so I have been able to focus on getting some much needed items to add to my place.  I found this great piece of art on Gilt about a month ago and it was finally delivered.  I love the juxtaposition between the graffiti and the high end connotation of the Chanel C's. I can't wait to get my navy curtains that my mom owes me they will really pop this art.

Thank Goodness....

For those days when your photographer is not available.  Thanks goodness for the great lighting and large mirrors in the fitting rooms at Anthropologie and my trusty old iPhone. Took these quick snaps today while doing some Monday shopping.

Style Tip:  Love stripes?  Try looking for styles that are done in a unique way.  I love the way these are cut and sewn on the bias and offer a fun new look.

Two Tone....

These pants are like leggings on steroids, they hug the few curves that I have in all the right places and are so comfortable.  I wouldn't usually think to combine navy and black but the combo absolutely works for this style. Since I wanted to keep the focus on the pants I wanted to kept the rest of the outfit pretty simple with a white blouse and my go to statement necklace.  I couldn't help but top it all off my my favorite leopard heels.

Style Tip: Want to give the illusion of a slimmer silhouette?  Try a color blocked or sometimes called paneled style.  This is best executed when there are only 2 colors that are combined on the vertical, like the pants that I am wearing.  There are also a few dress options that are great, like this one.

Dress My Nest: My Newest Additions.....

It seems like forever since I have done or purchased anything new for my home.  When I purchased it one of the main requirements was to have a large closet.  Well, what I thought was going to be a ton of room quickly turned into not having enough space to store everything like I would like to.  I have been looking for a way to organize some of my handbags and shoes that are pretty much thrown in the corner of my closet, so when I found the below cabinet via Craigslist I was beyond excited.  I had grand plans of refurbishing it but the more I look at it, the more I enjoy it just the way it is.  The only thing I will probably do is update the hardware.  I also found the below gold shell at Goodwill for a whooping 6 bucks which has a new home on my dresser as a jewelry holder.

Just in Case....

While browsing the recent Shopbop markdowns I found myself in the Dannijo jewelry section of the site and to my surprise noticed that they also make really fun iPhone cases.  They are a little on the pricey side but are so awesome and unique are worth the splurge.  I hope you all had a great week and enjoy an even better weekend!

Thrifty Finds: Levi's Cutoffs....

I have been wanting a pair of those cute vintage Levi's cut offs.  Each time I was prepared to take the plunge they were either too expensive or the right price but of course not the right size.  So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.  Since they are old Levi's I thought why not take a visit to my local thrift store?  I found this great pair of Levi's shorts for a mere 5 bucks!  The length was a little odd so I cut off about 2'' and ended up with these.

Style Tip:  I love finding ways to own trendy items at a fraction of the cost.  These shorts were a very easy project, and for $5 and a little bit of my time totally worth it.  So get those creative juices flowing, you never know what you will come up with!
