Political....

I purchased this dress because I absolutely have an affinity for Charlotte Taylor and her oh so cute prints!  I wore this outfit to work today and the first thing my boss asked me was, if I was making a political statement.  It was the thing furthest from my mind, but I thought it was kind of funny that's the message this dress sent.  I just thought it was a cute print.  *Shrugs shoulders*

Timeless....

I have been in a decorating rut.  What I mean by rut is that for the past few months I have spent all my decorating money traveling and buying clothes and accessories.  With that said, after seeing the  timeless collection that is currently available in Target stores I have become a little inspired to resume my home decor projects.  The line is femininely masculine and has some really great pieces to offer.  Most of the items remind me of pieces that would be in a version of this room that I posted some time ago now.

Dressy Casual......

On days, like today, when I am not sure what I want to wear I either start out with my computer for some inspiration images that I have saved, but I didn't have time this morning.  So I went for the next best thing.  I started with an item that I wanted to wear and built around it.  This outfit started with this great pair of Gap denim.  Since they are so casual I wanted to make sure the rest of my outfit was dressy.  So why not a blazer, dark aqua green blouse, and sky high heels to top it all off?

Style Tip:  I have talked about saving your favorite inspiration for those days when you are in a style rut here, but another option is to pick an item you want to build an outfit around.  Your favorite blouse or that pair of skinny denim that makes your butt look great are good starting points.  Then think about what you want your overall look to be and create something that fits what you have going on that day.

Thrifty Finds: Tory's Tunic

I found this tunic at one of my favorite thrift like stores, Buffalo Exchange.  While I do love a good dig its nice to go to Buffalo for the more edited version of a thrift store.  The print had me at hello and the fact that it was an infamous Tory Burch tunic was the cherry on top.  The weather didn't exactly lend itself to wearing long sleeves but I made it work by wearing shorts and these great open toe booties.

Style Tip:  Transitioning to fall is exactly that a transition.  So go ahead wear those light weight sweaters or tunics with your shorts or skirt.  You can top it off with your favorite wedges that you aren't ready to put away yet or throw on some booties.

Get Dressed....

So I thought that I should finish this week with a dress that fit into my style tip from Wednesday, here.  I have been stalking this dress for sometime and if you get the Anthropologie catalog you may remember it from the July cover.  This amazing cobalt blue dress with 3 dimensional clouds for dots is the perfect styling for almost any figure. Lucky for you its currently on sale!  If you love it buy it here, I'm not sure how long it will stay around because I think its amazing, and if you don't take my word for it please read all the raving customer reviews.  I hope you all had a great week and enjoy a better weekend!

Denim...

I saw this dress on an instagram roll a few months ago, tracked it down, and purchased it.  I love the different types of denim that are combined to create this dress.  Its simply unique and absolutely one of those purchases that fit into my style tip from yesterday.  I can't wait to wear this again with boots in the cooler months to come.

Perforated Leather.....

Its not really cold enough for leather, but I really wanted to wear this dress so on it went.  While it is made out of leather its sleeveless, which didn't make me quite as warm and was perfect for the almost fall like weather we have been having.  The perforated detail all over the dress is what I love most, and while its such a small detail it adds such a great impact to the overall look.

Style Tip:  If your style is a little more conservative, you can still look for subtle details on the garments that you purchase to add interest to your outfits.  This all over perforation is the perfect example of this, its just the right amount of extra detail that gives what would be an otherwise boring dress visual interest.

A Second Chance of Sorts......

So several months ago I was in LOVE with these shoes, here.  At the time they were way out of my budget, then went on sale and were still way out of my budget, but I never forgot about them.  Well, over the weekend I stumbled upon a shoe sale at Nordstrom, and saw these beauties.  They were so reminiscent of the sky high heels that I loved months ago and now another chance and on sale none the less.  So I did what any other female in my shoes would do.  I bought them.  HA!  I wore them today and I loveeee them.  So if you loved the Guiseppe's as much as I did, but didn't have the cash for them this pair is a perfect substitute, absolutely comfortable, and a great value!

A Dash of Print.....

I saw a version of this outfit on someone's instagram roll.  The image I saw was a lady dressed in a knee length navy button front skirt, a light blue oxford button down, snake print heels, and a black clutch.  Well I loved it so much I saved it as inspiration and came up with this outfit.  All the same makings but with items that I own.

Style Tip:  See an outfit you love and want to make your own?  Try to stick with the same color scheme using pieces that you own.  I don't own snake print heels but I had this great bag so I swapped the heels which was in the original look for my bag.  With a little bit of creativity you can create your own version of a look you love.

Vest and Dress.....

I am slowly transitioning to fall and this dress fit the bill.  The silk fabric is lightweight enough for the warm weather we are still getting in Dallas, and the olive color is perfect for fall.  I didn't get a chance to wear these booties a lot last year because I bought them so late in the season so I am starting early this year.  Happy Hump Day!!

Style Tips:  Want to start a slow transition to Fall?  Try temperature appropriate fabrics but in seasonally appropriate colors.  Its the best of both worlds!

Contrast...

I saw this cute dress today on Asos.  It also comes in an all solid navy version but I love the contrast of the two colors on this one.  To top it all off it has the cutest button detail down the back.  You have to go check it out.

Quick Snap....

My boyfriend took this quick snap of me after brunch on Sunday.  Apparently I have been trying to get all the wear that I can out of my white bottoms before I tuck most of them away for the winter.  Did you all have a nice weekend?

More Daytime Sparkle...

I love wearing sequins during the day.  Its a great way to optimize your wardrobe and not have to always wait for a special occasion to wear your dressy pieces.  I wore this to breakfast at Yolk, which was amazing, and brought a denim jacket along as well just in case it got a little chilly in the restaurant.  Aren't you all sad that summer is quickly coming to an end?  I hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend.

Style Tip:  In case you missed it, the previous tip for executing daytime sparkle can be found here.

Tourist in the Windy City....

Quick post today.  I have been enjoying a short get away in Chicago.  This is what I wore on a very unsuccessful thrifting adventure.  I hope you all had a great 4th!

Style Tip:  No matter how cute the wedges, its probably not the best idea to wear them while trudging around the city.   They will make for a cuter outfit but for me comfort is key when touring a new city.  :)
