Happy Halloween

With Halloween around the corner how could I not post about it?  I haven't been into dressing up for Halloween much since college but I always enjoying seeing all the creative costumes that people come up with.  Some are brilliant, like the Desperate Housewives of Utah that a few of my coworkers did today, yes I am so regreting not bringing my camera so I could share pics with you.  Some not so brilliant, like a ghost from a white sheet.  I think the only way now and days is if my costume made me look like this!  Ballerina anyone?  I hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend!

Not Your Ordinary School Girl..

I love that the pleated skirt is making a come back.  I remember when these were first popular, I think I was about 12 or 13, middle schoolish age, and they all came with this huge safety pin and were about knee length.  I'm sure there are some pictures of me in a pleated skirt that I wish didn't exist, but we all have those pictures right?  Well, they have certainly come a long way from those days.  There are a few styles that I really like, I can't decide which option to get for winter.  Decisions...decisions.

Dressing the Walls

I have been on the fence about what to do to the walls of the entryway of my house.  Do I paint or do I paper?  There are advantages to both, if I paint I can easily change the color for any updates, but if I paper there are just so many unique looks that the walls can have.  I am really leaning towards wallpapering.  Yea, I know right?  I said it, but really its making a come back and its not your mom's awful floral pattern from the 80s its actually really cool.  While I'm still deciding I found a little inspiration.

We've Seen the clothes, what about the accessories?

With fashion week now a distant memory, I have looked at many of your blogs and dreamed about owning all the gorgeous outfits, but no one really highlights the accessories.  They are the make or break topper of any outfit and we spend so much time looking at the great clothes we don't really pay too much attention to what completes the look.  I looked through some of the shows of my favorite designers and have some of my favorite accessory picks below.  What are your favorites?

Shoes from Alexander Wang

Shoes from Chanel

This lovely bag from Chloe

Loving this over sized clutch and leather gloves from Chanel, so KARL!!

This tassel belt from Chris Benz

The stacked bracelets and bag from Marc by Marc

Tomato Skirt...

While I love a good mini skirt I am so loving that skirts are making their way back down, in length that is.  I found this skirt at Anthro a few weeks ago and not only is it the perfect shade of tomato red, its the perfect length as well!  To top it all off it has pockets.  I love a pocket on a skirt or dress as seen here, and for me it's still an unexpected detail.  Happy Monday Everyone!

A Denim Match Made in Fashion....

One of my favorite new trends is all the Native American inspired prints used for linings, capes, sweaters, and outerwear, as I post about here.  One of my favorite items to buy is a denim jacket.  There is something about a denim jacket that instantly adds an element of casualness to an outfit like no other piece of clothing can.  So today when I found out that Levi's is collaborating with Pendleton I was beyond excited.  Below is the only image that I could find of the product however there should be more available when the collection debuts next month on the Levi's website.  I can't wait to see what it all looks like!

Bright as the Sun...

There is something about wearing the color yellow that makes me smile all day.  With the cool mornings and warm afternoons we have been having I figured that it was the perfect time to wear this cute polka dot skirt with my very light weight sweater.  I saw this skirt at Urban a couple weeks ago and fell in love with the flowy fabric and mini pleats, the polka dots were just icing on the cake.

Shabby Chic Perfection....

As you all may or may not know, I have been in the process of decorating my new home.  It's taking a lot longer than I would have ever thought but as I have mentioned before I want to fill my home with things that I love instead of buying things just to buy them.  I am constantly looking for inspiration and came across the home of Angie Cavalier.  Simply put it's beautiful.  From the glass knobs in the white tray to the chandelier in the bathroom everything, her home is sheer shabby chic perfection. I don't know about the all white for myself but its sure pretty to look at.  Happy Monday everyone!

The Cold Shoulder...

There is something about a woman's shoulder that is so sexy.  So when I found this fleece several weeks ago, lonely on a sale rack at Saks, I knew it had to be mine.  It's really the best of both worlds, the comfort of a fleece, and the chicness of an off the shoulder top.  Dare I forget to mention the great embellishments on the shoulder!  This is def one of my top 5 favorite items in my closet right now.  I hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend!

Cool Mornings and Warm Afternoons

Make for the perfect time to wear sweaters layered over an outfit.  This paring allows you to basically have 2 unique looks.  One layered look in the morning and the other more casual in the afternoon.  You all know my love for everything J Crew and today is no exception.  Check out their newest sweater spread on the home page of their site.  I love that it looks like it was all photographed in the corner of an empty conference room in their office.  Not only are all the outfits styled perfectly, but all the models lips painted in red is to die for!

Family Photos

There is something about displaying pictures of family and friends that automatically makes any space feel like home.  While browsing the newest issue of Lonny Magazine I saw this idea taken to the next level.  Family photographs blown up poster size or larger and showcased for all to see.  I remember first seeing this on an episode of 9 by Design and thought it was a very cool idea.  Now its starting to pop up more and more in home decor.  I was thinking about trying to incorporate this in one of the rooms of my house.  What do you think?

A Return to Khakis

Denim has dominated the pant world for the past several seasons which has left khaki pants on the back burner.  Its like they have fallen into this category of being known as a staple for a work or school uniform.  I have been slowly making an effort to transition away from denim to alternative options and the khaki pant has definitely made a return to my wardrobe.  I found these at Zara a few weeks ago.  They are beyond comfortable, fit in all the right places, and the skinny leg and pleated front make for a great update.  I heart them so much I am contemplating going back to pick up another color.  Happy Monday!

Off to the Fair...

This week has flown by!  Lots coming up in the retail world.  All stores start to set Holiday product soon, and I can't wait to see what's in store for my favorite places, J Crew, Anthro, Forever, and Gap.  This weekend I will take a break from my usual shopping excursions to go to the fair with my parents.  I plan on eating lots of fried everything and enjoying this amazing weather we have been having.  I hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend.  :)

Love High...Buy Even Lower

We all LOVEEE a good deal right?  Do you remember my post last week here, about the faux fur leopard print coats?  Well, if you don't I thought that I found a steal of a deal at asos.com for this coat style, but after looking on the Forever 21 website today I was wrong.  The below jacket is a mere $39.80!!  I know less than 40 bucks!  I can't even believe it.  I will wait until it arrives at my local store to check it out but if you want it now its still available in all sizes, but we all know how quickly things sell out there.

Handira: My Moroccan Decor Dream

I have seen these blankets called Handira, or Moroccan Wedding Blankets, on a few of my favorite decor blogs and wanted to share this beautiful find.  Without going on too long and making this post a boring lesson in world culture, I will give you the quick synopsis.  These blankets are usually sewn by women and can take up to months to complete, they are traditionally given to brides, and are said to have protective powers its owner.  They typically retail anywhere from upwards of $300, but they are so lovely and appear to be worth every penny.  I am seriously contemplating eating ramen for awhile to afford one of these beautiful pieces.
