DIY: I Think Knot!

I found this DIY for a Sailor Knot doorstop/paper weight that I think is so cool. I can't take credit for this DIY, but as I was browsing the Design Sponge blog last week I have been thinking about a way to incorporate one, or maybe a few of these around my house. I don't know if they will actually make the final design cut but they are so cute, and look easy enough to create. You can find the full list of materials and instructions for this project here. Happy Hump Day!

What's Your Mix

I love browsing the web to see what the new trends are and to get some outfits ideas that I may have not necessarily picked on my own. Another online store that I frequent is Intermix. I have been to their brick and mortar store which at times is a little hard to shop but their online store is great. They have some of the best looks that are very easy to wear and make your own with similar pieces that you may already have in wardrobe. If you don't already know about this store its definitely worth a browse. See below for a few of my favorite looks with some of Summer's hottest key items.

Another Pop of Color

I have been wanting to take some pictures by these huge bales of hay, and I finally got the opportunity over the weekend. While I loved this outfit as I was putting it together, overall the colors were just too bland. This hot pink scarf that I bought during my trip to NYC that I blog about here and here was just the thing this outfit needed. I was a little bit apprehensive about wearing it since its 100 degrees in Dallas but it added a much needed pop of color. I hope you all had a great weekend. Happy Monday everyone!

Return to Sender

So now that I have a more permanent home I have been contemplating the thought of getting a return address stamp. As a child I would help my mom stamp all of her monthly bills with her self inking stamp. I LOVED that job! Now and days everything is electronic and snail mail is mostly a thing of the past, but the child in me still just wants to stamp the few envelopes that I mail each month. After looking at a couple of sites, I must admit that stamp designs have come a long way from my mom's self inking office depot days. Happy Thursday everyone, one more day until the weekend!!!

Stamps can be purchased here, here, and here

Cool Canvas

I think that canvas bags in all shapes and sizes mixed with leather details are going to be the next big thing. I previously blogged about canvas bags here, but after browsing Etsy today I found another designer that makes just the cutest multipurpose canvas bags. The name of the company is a little out of the box, Death and Texas, which doesn't really make you think of cute bags right? They are more affordable than the bags I posted before and totally cute! Happy Wednesday Everyone!!!

The handlebar Bag, LOVE this one!

I Scream, You Scream, We all Scream for.....

Ice Cream.....Yes you all know the rhyme.... Well, over the weekend while at the grocery store there was a sale on the pint cartons of Blue Bell Ice Cream. For those of you that aren't from the South, actually I'm not sure if they sell this brand outside of Texas, Blue Bell is like the "IT" ice cream. In their commercials they claim to be the best ice cream in the country, and this new flavor is no exception. The flavor is called Vanilla Cookies and Cream and it is AMAZING!!! Its their traditional golden vanilla ice cream blended with Vanilla Cream cookies, it was a party in my mouth. It was so good that the little pint of ice cream that I opened just yesterday is now finished. I know!!! If you live in a city where they sell this brand please do yourself a favor and try this new flavor you won't be disappointed.

Its a Jungle in Here

As you all know I've been having lot of fun decorating my house. It has definitely been a time consuming project but I know will be totally worth it in the end. The one piece of advice that I remember from the many design blogs that I read is to take your time and buy things you LOVE. Hence, the time commitment. Who knew it would take so long to fill your house with things you absolutely love? I did get a little ray of sunshine over the weekend when I found this cute bird table cloth that I had been eyeing at Target. Not only was it on sale but there was only one round table cloth left waiting just for me, it was like the design gods had been shining down on me. One of the big trends that I have seen through my search in home decor has been animals, and they are everywhere, on pillows, curtains, knobs, chairs, and rugs! What is your take on this trend?

Breath of Fresh Yellow!

Today's post was inspired by my new cute grey and yellow striped flats that I wore to work today. For me the color yellow is synonymous with the summer. Yellow can be a hard color for some people to wear, but its all in how you wear it and mostly how much of it you wear. What seems like a cute outfit in your head could easily turn into a fashion don't. Enjoy the breath of fresh Yellow!

Pops of Color!

There is something about adding hot pink to any room that makes me want to smile!!! The color scheme that I have in mind for my office are bright yellow, grey, white, and bright cobalt blue. I have been toying with the idea of adding a just a few splashes of pink. Too many colors?? Maybe.... Anyway while I ponder the thought of adding yet another color to my office, I will leave you with a few of my favorite rooms with just the right amount of PINK!!!!

Stripes and Lace

One of my favorite new trends is lace!!! I love the way it makes any outfit immediately ultra feminine. I decided to pair this cute lace top I found at Forever with another one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, these conductor inspired striped pants. It was a steamy day in Dallas on Saturday and the outfit was perfect for the warm weather....what is your favorite new trend?

A Rainbow of Canvas

Its summer time and many of you are headed to the beach, your local farmers market, or outdoor flea market. While browsing the web today I found the below bags, made by a company called Utility Bags, which are perfect for holding just about anything! They are made in the USA, which is a rarity now and days, comes in 13 color combinations, and are made with canvas which means durable. What I like most about these bags is the great selection of bright colors and the contrast handles. A canvas bag is a definite must in any household. Happy Friday everyone!

Nostalgia: Perfume Bottles

There is something about the look of perfume bottles that makes me think of elegance. I remember being a child and smelling all of the perfumes that my mom had on her vanity. She was always dressed up when spraying on her scent for the day, she was a double sprayer one on her neck and the other at the front of her blouse. I longed to be old enough to spritz myself with perfumes like my mom. Oddly enough now that I can afford to have many perfumes of my own I only use Amazing Grace from Philosophy. What is your favorite scent?
