Giveaway....

With Christmas around the corner I was wondering how I could show all of you just how much I appreciate you taking the time to stop by my blog. Well, with a giveaway of course!!!!  Because who doesn't like free stuff?  Some of you have been following me for couple years, and some are newer followers, whatever the case you are all welcome to enter.  Today's giveaway is from one of my absolute favorite nail polish brands, Essie.  Ever since being introduced to  Mint Candy Apple I have been hooked on this brand.  They are always coming out with the next big thing in nail color and their new collection, Repstyle is no exception.  With the use of a small magnet on the top of this bottle your nail color is transformed from drab to fab!  I recently tried this and quickly learned that it is going to take a little practice but once I get the hang of it, I am excited to see what different looks I can come up with.

Giveaway Rules:  I have 6 bottles so there will be 6 chances to win.  All you have to do is be a follower of my blog, of course, and leave a comment below with the name of your favorite Essie color AND your email address.
Want an extra entry?  Follow me on instagram and you got it!  Just note that as well when you enter below.
The winners will be picked at random.  Only one bottle per person will be awarded.

Good Luck Everyone!!  The giveaway will close in exactly one week from today at midnight.

The Unexpected Statement.....

I love, love, love a great statement piece.  At first glance these boots appear to be a pair of those great tapestry/leather mix boots, but when you turn to walk away what greets you is a vertical pom pom detail that adds a fantastic unexpected detail.  I loved these boots when I first saw them on my trip to Chicago a few months back but didn't have room in my luggage to bring them home.  Well our paths crossed again and they were on sale, so I thought why not??

Style Tip:  I love unexpected details!  They are those little things that make your clothing special.  A pop of color for the lining of your conservative blazer, great detailed buttons, or pom poms down the back of your boots are all little nuggets that make an ordinary style extraordinary.

Let's Do Lunch...

Several months ago I made business cards for my blog, here, and absolutely loved the way they turned out.  At the time I didn't think it was necessary to have a separate holder, however after seeing the below case I may just have to reconsider.

Penguins.....

Last year when Anthropologie launched their Charlotte Taylor collaboration, I loved all of the exploded prints so much that I purchased just about every piece in the line.  This penguin blouse is one of my favorites and it served as the perfect compliment to my new necklace.  Happy Hump Day everyone!!

Fur....

If you have been following my blog for awhile you may recognize this faux fur stole.  I love this thing and at the first sign of a cold snap I couldn't wait to pull it out and sport it.  It takes any outfit from ordinary to extraordinary.  What a difference one accessory can make!

Style Tip:  A fur stole is a great way to add color and texture to any outfit.  My rule of thumb is to keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple since the stole should be the statement piece of your outfit.

Black Friday....

When I was visiting my brother and his family in Japan the one trend that stood out with all the ladies was shorts with stirrup tights.  Do you remember these things?  I had them in all colors when I was in middle school.  I never thought that I would wear them again but I thought what the heck, when in Rome.  Since it wasn't super cold today I thought it was the perfect time to wear them.  I wanted to keep it super casual and comfy while doing some shopping so again I opted for another version of the shorts with tights look.  Did you find any great deals today?

Velvet....

As I was working on this post I realized that my last few outfits have been some combination of shorts with boots. I guess you can say this has been my "look" lately.  Since it hasn't been super cold its been great to be able to wear shorts into the winter months.  For this outfit I opted for these velvet shorts that I've had for sometime now.  I forgot that I had purchased these tights over the summer from the Gap on super sale so I decided to pull them out for their winter debut.  Topped all off with a blazer and my favorite pair of Frye boots and I was off for weekend errands.

Style Tip:  I talk about wearing shorts into winter, here, but what happens when its a bit too cold for bare legs.  Try adding tights!  There are so many options available for any type of outfit and can add an element of interest that your outfit wouldn't have otherwise.

Essie: The Winter Collection.....

I was invited by the team over at Essie to preview their new Winter Collection.  Upon arrival I was greeted by smiling faces and treated to a mini manicure with the choice of any of the broad range of colors offered in their line.  In keeping with the theme of the night I decided to go with one of their new winter shades, Butler Please.  The collection of 6 new shades is every bit of Fall and the color names stay true to the out of the box Essie nomenclature, which is the cherry on top for these little bottles of goodness.  I can't wait to try everyone of these colors in the near future.

Eggplant Velvet.....

Lately, I have really been into the look and aesthetic of velvet.  Not crushed velvet that I used to wear in the form of skirt set in the 90s but great velvet pieces for both your wardrobe and home decor.  As I am sitting here listening to the results of the election I found an image of this fantastic family room with a dark eggplant couch as the focal point.  I love that it has the perfect mix of prints, color, and of course its all topped off with that couch!!

A Relaxing Weekend....

Most weekends I love to wear super casual no fuss outfits.  One of my go to weekend uniforms for fall is a basic v neck tee, usually in white or heather grey and a cardigan.  This past weekend I opted for this dusty olive green cardigan over one of my favorite American Apparel tees.  Its simple cute and fuss free.

Style Tip:  What's your weekend uniform?  Its a time to let loose but not lose your sense of style.  I love wearing multiple versions of the below outfit.  Simple layers with or without a scarf is easy and something that most of you will have in your current wardrobe.  So have fun and make this look your own, the options are limitless.

Cherry Pop....

I got this bright cherry red skirt from J Crew this past weekend.  I think the options for this skirt are limitless but today I decided to go with one of my favorite color combos, red, blue, white and a dash of leopard. Done and done. To all my readers on the East Coast I hope you are all safe after the storm.

Style Tip:  Red, White, and Blue, always makes me think that I am dressing for the 4th of July.  By adding leopard whether it be a scarf, heels, or handbag it automatically makes the outfit a little less themed and more trendy.

About Shoes...

I am so sad that it's starting to get dark earlier which makes it very difficult to take outfit pictures. I am going to have to come up with some out of the box ways to get my outfit posts in during these winter months.  But onto today's post, its all about shoes and all are available at Zara.  They offer some really great options for for fall below are a couple that I love, mostly because they remind me of less expensive versions of designer shoes that I can't afford.  I may even try to add a pair to my wardrobe at some point this season.

Pinning.....

Soooo, I finally gave in and decided to start my own pinterest account.  I didn't start one months ago for fear that I would have something else to be addicted to but honestly it has proven to be a useful tool.  I wanted to share some of my favorite pins at the moment and if you are interested follow me on Pinterest, here.
