The Ultimate Upcycle Challenge...

I was asked to participate in an ultimate upcycle challenge where I was given $100.00 to repurpose a piece from a local thrift store.  I was nervous about entering since I don't have tons of experience redoing furniture but decided to take a chance on such a fun project.  I ended up finding the below chair and although reupholstering doesn't come 2nd nature to me I took the bull by the horns and ended up with this after result.  I think this turned out great for being my first time completely redoing a chair.  So now me and all my competition are up and I would love your support, PLEASE vote for me, here.  It will only take a couple seconds and I would appreciate it so much.

Bold and Bright....

I frequent the Karla's Closet blog and love everything about her style.  So when I got the chance to visit Shareen Vintage, one of her go to stores, this past summer I was elated and jumped up and down at the thought of having my very own piece of her closet.  So when I originally told you all that I visited the store, here, I promised an outfit post in a couple weeks, well a couple weeks has turned into a few months.  Better late than never right?

Paisley....

You know that moment when you find that item you have been eyeing for awhile on sale with an extra something off?  Welllll, these pants were a result of that moment.  I had been eyeing these great paisley denim for quite sometime but couldn't bring myself to spend a small fortune on such a trendy item.  As mentioned here, in my style tips, when you are wearing a statement item keep the rest of the outfit pretty simple.  Which is exactly what I wanted to achieve with this outfit.  A white tee and chunky cardi can go a long way.

Make Up For Ever....

As many of you may or may not have noticed I don't typically wear too much make up.  It isn't because I don't want to or enjoy the way it looks its mostly because I just don't know how to apply it so I don't look like a 5 year old got a hold of my face.  Like some of you, I have had my make up done at many a make up counter and some looks I have loved and some I haven't loved so much.  However, I haven't actually been given the opportunity to learn how to apply it to myself and most importantly with the limited products that I have decided to splurge on.  With all that said its almost like Make Up For Ever was inside of my head when they announced the Make Up Bag Remix event they will be having in Dallas at Northpark mall this weekend.  The event encompasses everything that I have wanted out of a make up event, my personal cosmetic bag and their make up professionals teaching me the best way to apply and use its contents. I am so excited to be a part of this on Saturday if you want to come have some fun too please sign up here.

A Day Of Love....

Hi Everyone!!!  As you all know tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  A day where all the men in relationships clamor to find the perfect gift that shows just how much they love that special someone.  Every year I try to come up with something for my coworkers to make them feel special.  Last year I did, this, and this year I decided on something that wouldn't spend a lifetime on the hips.  :)  Ever since seeing these Kitsch hair accessories I LOVED the idea of them and have even purchased some for myself.  I wanted to get some for everyone on the team, but since that includes about 15 women my bank account didn't allow it.  So, I came across a DIY to make them myself, here, and with a winning bid on eBay, a trip to Hobby Lobby, and a couple of hours of my time I ended up with these.  I hope your day is filled with lots of love!!

Mila, You Remind Me Alot of Chanel....

While on a quick stop into J Crew the other day I saw the cutest leather ballet flats that reminded me of the very cute and very expensive Chanel flat.  I don't wear flats too often but for those of you that do these shoes are a great alternative for the Chanel ones and are just a quarter of the price and dare I say cuter?  They also offer a great assortment of colors to choose from.  I hope you all had a great week and have an even better weekend.

Blockin....

Are you still color blocking?  I found this little dress at Forever 21 a couple months ago and the first time I wore it, it was sans accessories.  This time around I wanted to mix it up a bit and belted it to give it a little more shape instead of wearing it as a loose shift.  The dress pretty much stands on its own and doesn't need much extra so slouchy black boots and a black coat were the perfect compliments.

Style Tip:  Do you have a loose shift dress that you want to change the look of?  Belt it!  I prefer a skinny belt, since it allows you to blouse your dress over it a little better than a wide belt.  Its such a great way to give your dress a completely different look without breaking the bank.  For more belted shift inspiration, Priscila over at the My Showroom Blog, here, is the queen of belting a shift!
