Lets Get Married...

The wedding I attended this past Sunday was wonderful.  It took place at an old movie theater now art Gallery in the Heights area of Houston.  It was a pretty non traditional wedding, but it totally fit the personality of the bride and groom.  I took tons of pics and wanted to share a few.

My What Large Pockets You Have

On a recent trip to Forever 21 I found this skirt.  The over sized pockets had me at hello.  I loved the style so much that I knew I had to take it home.  It reminded me of a version of a much higher end skirt that I had seen before, which made it all the more enticing.  Happy Monday everyone!

True Love....

This week has been a whirl wind. Its amazing what cutting 2 work days out of the 5 day week can do.  I am now off again for a wedding.  I LOVE weddings, the idea of 2 people coming together to share their love for one another always makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside.  This time I was fortunate enough to already have a dress in my closet ready to go so I didn't have to go through the last minute shopping ordeal.  We all know when you do you either don't find something that you love or spend way more money than you should on something that you do.  I hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend.

DIY: Bow Shoes

I loved this DIY that was in Who What Wear this week.  It's a great way to take a not so cool pair of basic heels, right into one of the latest trends for shoes.  I haven't tried it yet but it seems pretty easy and only requires 5 items plus your shoes to create this fresh update.  There are 2 versions of the bow, so you can pick which one suits your personality best, the below is my favorite.

Supplies:

Directions:
1. Cut two pieces of leather into strips: the first one should be approximately 7" x 1.5", the second one should be approximately 4" x 1.5". (You can go bigger or smaller depending on how large you want the bow to be.)

2. The longer piece will serve as the base of the bow. Place this piece in front of you, horizontally, with the colorful side of the leather facing down.

3. Starting at the outside edge, fold the leather strip into thirds, gluing each side down with your hot glue gun. The final bow should be approximately 4 inches long, but again, you can make it bigger or smaller to your taste.

4. Next, you will create the bow's knot! To do this, take the smaller piece of leather and fold it around the center of the bow. When you've positioned it correctly (make sure the seam is in the back!), use your hot glue gun to secure it to the bow.

5. While the glue on the bow is drying, cut two small pieces of Velcro, measuring 2" x 1" each.

6. Using the hot glue gun, attach one small piece of Velcro to the back of the bow, in the center. Then glue the opposite side of the piece of Velcro to the center/top of your shoe, where you want the bow to be placed.

7. Repeat steps 1-6 for the second bow.

8. Finally, stick your new bows to your shoes and voila! Flat, ladylike bow heels à la Louis Vuitton!

Native American Chic, an Oldie but Goodie

I am back from my much needed vacation in NYC.  I did, however, miss this great world of blogging.  As I browsed through the stack of magazines I took with me on my trip I came across the most amazing jacket.  The pattern was Native American inspired and the mix with the bright colors made it the perfect statement piece.   After reading a bit more it was a marriage between Pendleton and Opening Ceremony, yes please.  I am still in search of the exact jacket that I saw in the magazine but was able to find their line from last season which looks equally as great.

Fall Cravings

Anything with shearling...This soft woolly fiber is the ultimate in winter coat linings for this season.  From high to low there are many options for anyone who wants to stay a little warmer this season.  Some I will only dream about, others with the shearling "look" may end up in my closet before the winter months are over.  I hope you all had a great week and an even better LONG weekend.

A New York State of Mind

After a 3 hour delay I finally arrived in NYC last night.  I am so excited to be in the city again, and all that it has to offer for this long Labor Day weekend.  Posts for the rest of the week will be a little sporadic since I will be busy burning a hole through my pockets.  Just wanted to leave you with a few images, that are so New York.
